Do donations go towards a salary?

For the last two years (up to this point), the CAUGHT Foundation has been run 100% by volunteers and their own personal finances. We’ve always said we would notify you if this changed.

Our volunteers only method worked in our infancy, but lately, it has posed several challenges. CAUGHT has had a high turnover of volunteers who needed an income and didn’t have time to volunteer. The high turnover rate unfortunately stalled our projects and goals. To keep CAUGHT active and pursuing its goals, we’ve had to adjust and change our approach. CAUGHT will be looking to staff part-time, paid positions to keep things running smoothly without interruptions in the interest of serving Canada’s communities.

Where do donations go?

All donations are split into two categories: Recurrent Costs and Project Costs.

Recurrent Costs

These are certain, regular costs that are necessary to maintain operations. These costs are integral to the function of CAUGHT and without them, we would not be able to provide our services.

Operating Costs

The cost to keep the lights on and allow us to continue operating are:

  • Website and website security
  • Phone line
  • Email services
  • Banking services
  • Administrative costs, such as police records checks for our volunteers

Training Costs

Not all volunteers arrive with the same set of skills and training. Some of our volunteers have the passion for the work but lack specific training or experience in the field.

To ensure volunteers joining CAUGHT can perform their duties, we make sure they receive the training they need. Most of our training is in-house, but at times training is conducted by third parties.

The services we provide mirror the needs of our clients and is ever-changing. To provide relevant services to our clients we send ambassadors to training seminars and then have these ambassadors provide the training or teachings to remaining CAUGHT personnel. This allows us to remain up to date while minimizing training costs.

Project Costs

Unlike Recurrent Costs, Project Costs have an end date and reflect a current need or goal of CAUGHT.

Project Costs will be updated as our needs/goals change. Once a project is complete, we will remove it as a current project. No further funding will go to that project unless it is reopened and clearly stated on our website.

Projects can vary in purpose and funding requirements. Each of our current projects will be described here so that you, as the donor, can make an informed decision.

If we reach our funding goals for a special project and have a surplus of funds, those funds will be put toward our Operating Costs.
