About Us
Mission
By working with community partners and raising public awareness, we aim to combat human trafficking and child abuse by proactively providing education and connecting people with the appropriate resources while supporting law enforcement in their efforts to identify exploiters.
The CAUGHT Foundation is a Canadian not-for-profit corporation that was created by former Canadian law enforcement, military and intelligence professionals who wish to continue serving Canadians.
We are currently 100% run by volunteers but we are increasing our efforts with part-time staff to meet the growing demand. Learn more on our donation page.
Goals
Reclaiming Stolen Lives
Stolen lives are the lives that have been exploited by human trafficking or child exploitation. Our main goal is to help reclaim and prevent stolen lives.
In our efforts to help people reclaim their lives, we rely on community and private partners.
As we continue to develop our services, we are working to provide a tips service through which we can accept tips on child exploitation and human trafficking activities. We appreciate your patience as we develop this service with our partners.
Arming the Community
Our Caregiver Education Program is designed to equip teachers, parents and guardians with the knowledge and tools they need to identify the signs of human trafficking and child exploitation. With these skills, teachers, parents and guardians will be able to proactively identify and address risks, protecting children and youth from ever being victimized in the first place.
We provide information on topics such as:
- Identifying Signs of Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation
- Safe Internet Practices for Minors
- Stages of Commercial Exploitation
- Stages of Online Grooming
- Addressing Myths About Human Trafficking
We also attend public events, connecting communities with former law enforcement, military and intelligence personnel. Through these interactions, CAUGHT stays up to date on the latest trends in communities and allows CAUGHT to provide specific education back into the communities.
Serving those who serve…
The unfortunate truth is that the volume of human trafficking and child exploitation in Canada is too large for police agencies to eradicate within their current resourcing levels.
Police are pulled in many directions and typically aren’t able to meticulously investigate every human trafficking report. That’s where we step in.
Law enforcement and military professions have a level of understanding and respect for fellow personnel that remains even after retirement. Using these relationships and our knowledge of Canadian policing models, we act as a bridge between those who currently serve and their community’s specific needs in this area.
CAUGHT strives to lend a hand by providing an in-between service that serves both the policing agency and the public. Whether through community engagement activities or investigative assistance, CAUGHT can lighten the load for law enforcement.
This resource is a first of its kind in Canada.
